Life is full of ups and downs. No matter how much we hate them or how much we plan to try and avoid them, obstacles do happen. And honestly, they’re hard to get through. In these moments, I like grab one or two scriptures to hold onto and repeat them during my prayer time. This helps me redirect my attention from the problem to Jesus and strengthen my faith; all things that I need to actively pray through and trust God in a situation.
With the help of some friends, I gathered 12 Bible verses that will remind you of God’s love, sovereignty and provision as you face life’s difficulties. I encourage you to read the whole chapter to really get the full scope of these verses. I pray that God will speak to you and you’ll find a few of your own to repeat.
God is our Refuge and Strength [might and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains be shaken into the midst of the seas, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling and tumult. Selah!
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose– I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]
He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.
and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain; for the former order of things has passed away.”
The LORD is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
