Be Yourself and Mix Prints

Happy Friday! I had an extremely chaotic past two weeks so I’m glad to be at the weekend– peep my smile. Though it’s been a whirlwind of a week, well 2 weeks, I’ve learned a very important lesson: Be yourself.

And anyone who knows me knows that I love mixing prints! There’s nothing that screams TANIQUA more than wearing several different prints at the same time. I just can’t help myself.

But on a serious note, it’s tempting to look at another person, see the success that they are experiencing and want to do the exact thing they are doing, even if it’s not your style. The only thing you’ll gain from doing that is falling flat on your face. Because it’s not you. And quick frankly, it’s hard to try to keep up with the Jones’ and pretend to be someone that you’re not. Then people get used to the “character” that you’re pretending to be and thats who they like, or dislike. It’s exhausting.

I’ve known this for a while (we all have, it’s a cliche), but it really hit home these past few weeks. I was struggling to plan content for the blog and decided to look to some of my favorite bloggers for inspiration. Reading through their content made me realize that I was thinking and trying too hard to create a persona that everyone liked. Each of these women are completely different yet they stayed true to themselves and I learned from that.

So, I encourage you to chill and just do you. No matter if it’s weird, awkward, fun, crazy, sexy, cool. Appreciate yourself for who you are and walk confidently in it. I know I am.

This is so true! Better to be who you are than to get caught up pretending to be something & someone you’re not. People want to see your individuality! They want to know Taniqua, not [insert popular blogger here]. Keep doing you! I love mixing prints as well! Your outfit is cute boo!

Wow. This is exactly the same thing I’ve been experiencing lately. It’s great to know that you came to the best conclusion possible: Be Yourself. Thanks for sharing and I love your mixed prints.
